** This is to verify that SIM is registered I received the reply “+ CREG: 0.2” What do you mean you’re not registered, however I’m not sure if that’s right, because usually I use the chip in the mobile device. – I received the answer “+ CPIN: READY” That means it is unlocked. I tested the following AT commands AT – I received the response “OK” AT + CPIN? ** This check is SIM unlocked. Good afternoon, I’m having trouble sending sms My Sim800l apparently present is functioning normally. Here is a a great reference with all the information you’ll need about powering Adruino with external power sources. Arduino 5V output will not be able to provide that much of power and will surely damage the Arduino if such power was drawn. This is because SIM800 can consume around 2A during transmission bursts ( page 22 ). IMO, if you need a reliable and long-term setup, it is better to use an external power source for Arduino and SIM800. I was simply using Arduino 5V output to power SIM800 module. Maybe this stackoverflow question will help you: I did not use an external battery in this setup. Onboard Audio(speaker and microphone) interface pins.Sorry, I haven’t used SIM800 for TCP yet (but I should give that a go).Serial TTL onboard pin to directly connected to microcontroller.RS232 output to connect directly to computer.Onboard provision to select the power on mode of SIM900A (manual or auto) using jumper.Onboard power ON and Network indication LED.Power supply: Single supply voltage 9V to 12V(DC).This makes the modem a great choice if you plan to use GSM features on a computer.SIM900A. Most programming languages allow sending and receiving serial commands to a serial port and can be used to write softwares that can operate the modem without the need to implement any complex interface. All modem operations(sending and receiving messages, calls, etc) can be carried out by sending AT commands to this virtual serial port though a serial terminal program. The modem also features a serial TTL interface option. It comes with a standard RS232 interface which can be used to easily interface the modem to microcontrollers and computers. It uses the highly popular SIM900A module for all its GSM operations. This is a GSM Modem with a simple to implement RS232, TTL Serial,Use it to send SMS, make and receive calls, and do other GSM operations by simple AT commands through a serial interface from microcontrollers and computers.
